Our Art of the City Scholarship seeks to encourage and empower artists of all disciplines to submit an original piece of art around the year's chosen theme.

We are excited to announce the Art of the City scholarship theme for 2024: CHAOS
We look forward to the interpretation of this year's theme by the talented Creatives of Semiahmoo Secondary & Earl Mariott Secondary. We are now accepting submissions for this year's Art of the City Scholarship.

2024 Scholarship Applications Now Open!

We are excited to launch the third annual Art of the City Scholarship!

CHAOS was chosen as the 2024 theme as it ignites the vision of the unexpected, the conflict of order and disorder. It embraces irrationality over reason and logic. Beauty in the imbalance of textures, patterns and shapes.

"Art is chaos taking shape" - Pablo Picasso

We are so inspired by the creativity, interpretation and conceptualization of this year’s theme, HOPE. From poems to embroidery, sculptures to paintings, the 2023 Creatives demonstrated exceptional artistic talent and imagination.

A progression from the 2022 theme UNITY, we are inspired by the many interpretations of HOPE through original art pieces. The creatives have taken HOPE and explored, defined and deconstructed it.

We offer our sincerest congratulations to the 2023 Art of the City Scholarship Creatives, and wish them all the best in their future artistic endeavours!

We are so proud to have launched our Art of the City Scholarship in 2022. For our premiering year's theme, we chose: UNITY.

From fashion to film, and everything in between, each submission was an incredible journey as Semiahmoo Secondary's students explored, deconstructed and demonstrated the concept of UNITY and what it means to them.

We are incredibly grateful for every submission received in our inaugural year and we couldn't be more proud of our fellow creatives.
